I have had numerous significant accomplishment in my life, such as being the 1st female in my family to graduate college, Camper of the summer in 5th grade, and passing my drivers test after failing the first time for driving on the left side of the road however the one that I am most proud of is getting the spotlight on NBC 10 Philadelphia as “That girl” of the week showcasing my personal style.
The icing on the cake was the last part of the column where the “style guru” gives a styling tip about the look heres what she had to say “My one styling tip would be to change absolutely nothing about this outfit.” OOO YEAAA

After about a month of being on Model Mayhem I finally got a message from a make up artist saying that she would like me to collaborate with her and her team and mentioned that she enjoys working with new people. I checked out her her portfolio and wow! I couldn’t believe that SHE wanted to work withlittle ol ME. Somehow she was able to see past the poor quality of my portfolio and recognize my styling.
We discussed ideas about the shoot she even asked me if there were any models that I was interested in working with. I sent her some models that had reached out to me ,she didn’t like any of them I asked her why and she explained flaws which i didn’t see at first she told me “you’ll learn to be picky” I thought to myself who am I to judge these beautiful models but she was right, you develop an eye after a while.
For the shoot she gave me some inspiration for looks because I had no idea where to start. She mentioned that the photographer is very selective and boy was she right! The photographer only picked 2 of the 6 looks I brought, in a way I was glad that he was that picky it made me feel like he really knew what he was doing. From that point I never brought mediocre looks to future shoots only my strongest even if it was 2 looks.
For my first shoot it was quite an experience , I was so honored to be a part of this team, they had such good chemistry and talent which it showed through in their work. One day I hope to have my one team doing shoots left and right. Until then I’m just fine with meeting new artist, mentors and friends its one of my favorite things about this journey.
Im so very proud of my 1st shoot with a full team WE ROCKED!
I’ve always been a fan of DIY projects but there are exceptions… so I thought
After learning about Model Mayhem I couldn’t wait to get started and create some magic aka photo shoots for my portfolio – BUT In order to be a part of the network one has to submit pictures that then have to get approved by the I assume the “fashion police/gods”. I thought to myself how hard can this be ;I have the clothes, a camera phone, and pretty friends- what else do I need? after looking through the website I realized camera phone jut wont do and ironically my friends are a lot more camera shy than I thought. so that left me whith just the wardrobe. square one! So I put this on the back burner.
Until one night in January or should I say morning when I woke up a t 4:07 am and thought ahhha! CRAIGS LIST! theres got to be plenty of photographers looking for creative work. So I responded to as many post until I feel asleep and mind you I wasn’t planing on spending a penny for a photographer. Long story short I got contacted by a photographer who was interested in helping me out – but there was still one problem I didnt have a model. After talking to the photographer she convinced me that I a 5 foot nothing, a little on the healthy side ( if you know what I mean) would be great at modeling. I dont know how she managed to do this but she did!
Next thing I knew I was in front of a camera! and boy let me tell you its A LOT harder than it looks, I didn’t know whether to pose, do weird movements with my hands and feet, act natural, smile, or look like all the angry models on the runway. it was terribly awkward. From the pictures it looks like I went with the angry model look perhaps because I had no sleep- I came right after working a 10pm-8am shift the night before. Also this wasn’t a very glamours production I didn’t get the full diva service of hair and makeup that the talented models I shoot with now get. So it was up to me to “make it work!” and gosh darn-it I did!
All in all it was It was fun, I can now say “oh yea I’v modeled.” It made for a good story and I got pictures to start off on Model Mayhem that were approved by the fashion gods
People always ask me how I got started in fashion. I never know what story to tell becuase there are a lot of storeis; a lot of paths and even road blocks that led me down this road. Im not sure what moment in time set that “ahha!” light off, to turn this distant dream into a reality
The most vivid moment I can recall was back in late October last year – I was ona mission: : to find my birthday suit. I envisioned a beautiful black and taupe dress with chiffon and tulle for days and days paired with a rockstar black leather jacket . A mix of classic, chic, and girly. A spin-around-in-your-dress kinda moment. I stepped into a BCBG where Pierson, a fabulously dressed-to-the-tee sales rep helped me out. “Are you a designer” –he asks. If that isn’t the best pick up line I have ever heard, then I don’t know what is- but clearly he wasn’t trying to hit on me as I was not his cup of tea- if you know what I mean. We got to talking about how much I love fashion and the styling aspect of it and –ironically- my frustrations with how hard a time I was having getting my foot into the fashion world beacause im not a designer, per se
Pierson reffered me to website called Model Mayhem (a network for designers, STYLISTS, models, make up artist andphotographers to collaborate on photo shoots). I don’t know what got me going more: the HUGE compliment that boosted my confidence or the resource to network with other artists. All in all, I took that moment in time as a sign and ran with it. It’s funny how serendipitous life is if you stop to take it in for a moment. Coincidence or not, everything happens for a reason- reasons we may not understand at the time.
This blog is about my journey to my dream – A profession fashion stylist.
I am not a writer but I have real stories, and these are the moments that I’m gonna want to remember most and want to share, not to mention “having my own blog” is on my bucket-list. I have to warn my readers Im a bit on the cheesy side (hence quoting Miley Cirus) but with anything I do, I have fun with it, and look at everything as one of life’s little lessons.
And well lets be honest the real reason I created this blog is so that I can ROCK this shirt!
